Ok let me set the scene for you………
I have a very big and very wonderful team in the Philippines and I love going there about 3 to 4 times per year to help them build a huge Networking business and help them realise their dreams and goals.
This particular time we were told by our company General manager of the Philippines that he was going to take us to a basketball game and that we would be able to play a friendly game with a few locals. This sounded good to us, a bit of down time, a bit of exercise and a bit of fun.
Unfortunately by the time we left Manila for this basketball game it was about 8pm at night and we were functioning on close to 0 hours sleep in the last 24 hours after flying in from Singapore. So by 8pm we were quite tired, scratchy and very unmotivated to run around and play any kind of sport.
The day before I was 24/7 on the phones and emails trying to get to a new rank in my business which I did with 15 minutes to spare. I was even calling people in the line up to the airport on the way to Manila. It was a great relief to hit that new level but it was pretty draining as well. The funny part was we didn’t actually know the end result until we touched down on the other side.
So an hour later by car we were close to this village in the hills outside of Manila. Falling asleep most of the way, I started to hear a lot of noise and cheering as the car slowed down. I asked Dave – Our Philippines GM who all the people were in the street. “Is there a street party on here or a local basketball game or something?” He replied that he had a slight surprise for us and had to come clean. He had promoted for weeks a “celebrity” basketball match staring international guests from Australia who were very good basketballers……….. us.
All of a sudden my heart beat went from 60 beats per minute to 180 beats per minutes (where it stayed for the duration of the game). There were over 1,000 people squeezed into this stadium in the middle of nowhere to watch US….. the famous guys from Australia…… that were awesome basketballers. Yikes, the last time any of us played basketball was about 20 years ago and that was no highlight.
As we walked into the stadium…….. well, you can see the rest in the video below. But the next few hours were fantastic. Raising money for a charity and giving the locals that don’t have a whole lot, some fun and entertainment was very rewarding and quite touching. For the record – we went down by 1 point right on the siren after Lyndon “flexible” Biernoff let a ball roll between his legs which was picked up by the opposition and they ran it down to score at the last second. Shattering, but a whole lot of fun!
Network Marketing is an amazing business, where you can start with almost nothing, have no education or qualifications and make life changing residual income, travel the world, make amazing friends, make a difference, change people’s lives and even become a celebrity basketballer in the Philippines. I wouldn’t do anything else. I love what I do and we have a lot of fun. This trip to Singapore and Philippines was certainly very productive and a whole lot of fun.
Here is the highlight video of our basketball experience: Look forward to your comments and the Network marketing highlights of your career so far below. What was your amazing moment?
